That doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ll be spending hours a week on maintenance, but it does mean forming some new habits and improving old ones. Here’s what you need to know to keep your new smile looking and feeling its best all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Clean Them Every Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dentures collect food, bacteria, and plaque just like natural teeth do. That means daily cleaning is non-negotiable. To start, remove your dentures and rinse them after meals when possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, at the end of the day, brush them gently with a soft-bristled brush and an approved denture cleaner or colorless, scentless, liquid soap. Regular toothpaste can be too abrasive, so try to avoid using it when possible. Scratches can create tiny hiding places for bacteria that can discolor your prosthetic or cause odors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soak Them Overnight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dentures need to stay moist to hold their shape. Leaving them out to dry overnight can cause warping that affects the fit. Instead, soak them in a denture solution or plain water while you sleep. If your dentures have metal attachments, check with your dentist first, as some soaking solutions aren’t safe for metal components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
